Why Do Hotel Linens Become Wrinkled After Being Washed?
35 reads

In the daily operation of a hotel, the cleaning and maintenance of hotel linens are extremely important. However, many hotel managers often encounter a common issue-the linens become wrinkled after washing. This not only affects the hotel's overall image but also gives guests a poor experience. So, what causes hotel linens to wrinkle after washing, and how can this be resolved?

Core Reasons For Wrinkling In Hotel Linens

1. Improper washing method

Excessive or insufficient water temperature: If the water temperature during washing is too high, it will damage the fabric fibers, causing the linen to shrink and wrinkle; while if the water temperature is too low, the washing agent may not function properly, and the remaining washing agent will also cause the linen to wrinkle.

Excessive or insufficient washing time: If the washing time is too long, the linen will be overly worn and the fibers will become loose, making it prone to wrinkling; if the washing time is too short, the linen may not be thoroughly cleaned, and the remaining stains can also cause wrinkling.

Improper use of detergent: Choosing the wrong type of detergent, such as a powerful cleaning agent or one with excessive bleach, can cause damage to the fabric fibers of the linen, resulting in wrinkling of the linen.

2. Improper drying method

Excessive drying temperature: An excessively high drying temperature will cause the fabric fibers to dry quickly, lose their elasticity, and thus become wrinkled.

Excessive drying time: Long periods of drying can cause the linen to become overly dry, hard and brittle, and prone to wrinkling.

Excessive loading: During the drying process, if the loading quantity is too large, the compression between the linen items will cause wrinkling.

3.Improper ironing method

Excessive or insufficient ironing temperature: If the temperature is too high, it will damage the fabric fibers; if the temperature is too low, it will not achieve a good ironing effect, both of which will cause the fabric to wrinkle.

Uneven ironing pressure: If the pressure during ironing is uneven, some areas will develop wrinkles.

Improper storage method

Inconsistent folding: Inconsistent folding of linen will cause wrinkles during storage.

Overloading: Overloading will cause the bottom fabric items to be compressed, resulting in wrinkles.

How To Reduce Wrinkles In Hotel Linens (Practical Solutions)

Choosing the Right Washing Method:

Control water temperature: Based on the material of the linen and the degree of stains, select the appropriate water temperature. Generally, the washing water temperature for cotton linen can be between 40℃ and 60℃, while the washing water temperature for synthetic fiber linen can be slightly lower.

Control the washing time: Based on the quantity of the linen and the degree of stains, appropriately control the washing time. Generally speaking, the washing time should not be too long to avoid excessive wear and tear of the linen.

Choose the appropriate detergent: Based on the material of the linen and the type of stains, select a mild and effective detergent. Avoid using strong cleaning agents and detergents containing excessive bleach.

Choosing the correct drying method

Control the drying temperature: Based on the material and thickness of the linen, select the appropriate drying temperature. Generally, the drying temperature for cotton linen can be between 60℃ and 80℃, while the drying temperature for synthetic linen can be slightly lower.

Control the drying time: Based on the quantity and humidity of the linen, appropriately control the drying time. Avoid letting the drying process last too long, as this may cause the linen to become overly dry.

Control loading volume: During the drying process, it is necessary to control the loading volume to prevent excessive squeezing between the linen items.

Choosing the Right Ironing Method

Control the ironing temperature: Based on the material and thickness of the linen, select the appropriate ironing temperature. Generally, the ironing temperature for cotton linen can be between 150℃ and 180℃, while the ironing temperature for synthetic linen can be slightly lower.

Apply pressure evenly: During the ironing process, apply pressure evenly to ensure the surface of the linen is flat.

Properly store linen

Fold neatly: When storing linen, make sure to fold the items neatly to avoid creases.

Proper stacking: The stacking height of linen should not be too high to avoid the bottom pieces of linen from being compressed. At the same time, the storage environment should be kept dry and well-ventilated.
